When your daughter comes to you and asks "Can we start a business to pay for college before I get there?", you just say "yes" and then work out the details later.
Here's the backstory...
Not being from a musical family, I had no idea what I was in for when Madeleine found her love for music. I didn't realize that one instrument leads to another. Before you know it, there are five (or so) hanging on the wall, keeping the piano, mics, amps, drum sticks, and songbooks company. I never in a million years thought I would have a "Music Room" in my house someday.
But we do, and it is awesome!
Back to the biz...
After months of brainstorming (mostly not so good) ideas, the lightbulb finally went on...we knew we wanted to make fun gig bags. We had accumulated quite a pile of boring, black gig bags...a few guitars, the mandolin, the ukulele. There had to be a better way.
Getting from there to here has been filled with asking advice, creating prototypes, and developing a system so that everyone can have a gig bag they love. Gig bags should not only protect your instrument, but be fun and reflect who you are, just like your music.
We're learning as we go. We've researched the best materials, tweaked the design, and filed a patent to finally bring you GiGY™, the first build your own gig bag!
We came up with a system where you can pick your gig bag color and then choose your "Potes" (our word for the GiGY™ pocket/totes) to create a look all your own. The Potes snap on and off and fit on all the different gig bag sizes, so you can mix and match, switch things up, and even use your Potes without your gig bag to carry your stuff (we give you a detachable strap).
We're keeping it local. Your gig bags and Potes are sewn by us in our studio outside Philadelphia. We hope you love them as much as we do!
Our goal is to outfit all your instruments, but we are a small family team, so we are introducing them a couple at a time. Is there an instrument you would love a GiGY gig bag for? Please let us know and we will do our best to bring it to you.
